Introduction
Hey there, my name's David Bernardini.
I'm your semi-average 24-year-old male who loves to play video games and watch anime.
I'm not your typical male; I don't really do sports, physical activity (aside from Dance Dance Revolution ("DDR") and In The Grove ("ITG")) is not in my vocabulary.
Living Situation
I live in the Village at Highland Park, in Lemoyne, PA, with some friends, but we're moving soon.
Working Situation
I am assisting my father with his self-employment as a painter. I am looking for a steady job.
Dating Status
Contrary to what most people would like to believe (especially me), I do not currently have a girlfriend (which some find strange, as I'm generally pretty good at flirting, and am often told how cute I am), and never have. I really want to say I'm actively looking, but I have terrible luck, so chances are very good that if you're a girl who's interested in me, you'll have to say something first. Yeah, I'm just a simple guy who has no luck with girls for no good, known reason.
Excitement Level
My life at the moment, while not necessarily uneventful, is usually pretty boring. I work, I come home, I play games, chat some with those I know, and go to bed. DDR and ITG have taught me to get out of the house more often, and I'm still working on that; if I'm ever to meet more friends or get a girlfriend, it means leaving the house once in a while.
About My Interests: Video Games
I really do enjoy a good game. Role Playing Games ("RPGs") are where it's at for me. I like the Final Fantasy series, the Star Ocean series, and Phantasy Star Online. I also play a physical game called In The Groove (go visit ITGFreak.com if you don't know what it is).
I do consider myself to be pro-modernization when it comes to games; I enjoy trying the new games when they come out and seeing how much better (or worse, though hopefully not) the series is getting. However, I still know my roots; I still play the old-school games and appreciate them very much.
I love underrated games that sneak under most peoples' radar but are actually cool. Mischief Makers is on that list (picking up and shaking objects to make them more powerful was a very original idea), and so is The Mystical Ninja, as well as The Misadventures Of Tron Bonne.
I used to own a whole bunch of awesome video game systems, but I'm down to the PS2 and my friend's GameCube.
About My Interests: Anime
I enjoy a good anime. I love comedy anime (especially those with a cute and clumsy female protagonist, such as Rosette from Chrno Crusade and Lina Inverse from Slayers), and also watch action (GetBackers is cool.)
The only things that are generally not included in my taste for anime (I say "generally" because there have already been a few noteworthy exceptions) are giant robot anime (exceptions so far are Neon Genesis Evangelion and Big O, both because I heard the storyline was exceptional), anything where the storyline revolves around giant aliens or bugs (Blue Gender is a huge offender here), and stories about racing or cars (although the only exception was Ex-Driver, which I absolutely loved).
I've seen various anime that I love, ranging from cute, laugh-inducing stuff like Azumanga Daioh and Slayers, to serious stuff, like Evangelion. Cnances are good that if it doesn't fit in one of the categories above, then either I've seen it, or I'd really like to if given the chance.
About My Interests: Manga
Indeed, manga are very anime-like (that's why I got into them). It's also interesting to see the similarities and differences between the anime and manga versions of the same title. Lately, though, I haven't been reading any; I'd really like to get started again.
My Outlook On Life
My overall outlook is actually more than likely pretty good, but more often than not, if things aren't going my way, I will be pessimistic about it.
Disclaimers
I may not reveal everything in this journal (although there's quite a lot that I will say, as that's what this thing's for), but I will swear to you that what I do say here is most definitely truthful.
Also, as in real life, I probably won't swear very much in my journal, but if I do, you can be sure I'm either
1. in need of major emphasis, or
2. quite pissed about something.
My Problems & The "Chapter" Concept
Currently, my journal follows a sort of "Chapter" concept; major events in my life (usually successes, although it can be a major failure) dictate beginnings/endings of chapters.
Depending on the chapter's objective or lack thereof, a chapter can be rather short or excruciatingly long.
My journal currently stands at Chapter 3, and I've no clue when it'll end, as it's a pretty broad-minded chapter.
Conclusion
That's pretty much all I can relate without getting to the specifics of each day of my life, which is what the rest of this journal thing is all about. Now that you know my basic situation, go read my actual journal.
